On the eve of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sh.M. Mirziyoyev to Malaysia, the Uzbek-Malaysian Tourism Forum «Uzbekistan – the Pearl of the Silk Road» took place in the Malaysian state of Penang, February 3.

The event was attended by the leadership of the Tourism Committee, heads of the tourism departments of the governments of Malaysia and the state of Penang, as well as leading experts and business representatives from the tourism sectors of Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
Presentations were made on the tourism potential, historical landmarks, cultural, and natural heritage of Uzbekistan. Special attention was given to the rich cultural and historical significance of Uzbekistan’s tourist destinations, including cities like Shakhrisabz, Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, and others.

During the “B2B” meetings with over 100 representatives of the tourism business from both countries, business ties were established between tourism companies of Uzbekistan and Malaysia, opportunities for cooperation were discussed, and mutual agreements were reached to increase the flow of tourists.
Representatives of Malaysian tourism companies also became acquainted with new tourist sites, updated infrastructure, and cultural heritage sites built in Uzbekistan in recent years through the photo exhibition “New Uzbekistan,” organized as part of the forum.

Guests of the event were presented with a cultural program featuring national songs, music, and dances that reflect the rich and diverse culture and traditions of our country, as well as Uzbek national dishes. The forum became an important step toward developing tourism relations between Uzbekistan and Malaysia and opening new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation.
